Current photos from Spring, TX

Tonight's offerings from Spring, TX. Think I may have FINALLY gotten both a Vera and Piquant! FINALLY....after years of Minervas (these were bought as labeled individual bulbs, not boxed kits, so chances are just a little better.

Kristi, your blooms are looking great! How's the greenhouse working out? Alana

    Kristi:
I notice your plants are all gorgeous and in bloom but i dont see leaves on the plants. My plants are outsiders......they all grow leaves after the winter sleep and now the blooms are appearing. Should I remove the leaves or what?
I only got interested in amaryllis a couple of years ago and have a added a few named to my group. thnx Russ

    Arif, Alana, and Russ,

Arif, I will post photos of the parakeets tonight. :-) Thanks for asking about them!

Alana, I LOVE my $199 greenhouse. Time to take it down, which should be pretty comical! I have someone coming to work on the side yard and am going to put shelves for them there...so look for me struggling with getting the greenhouse back into its bag soon!

Russ, these are all new bulbs that were purchased at the Houston Amaryllis Society sale a month ago. They were all dormant and have put out scapes prior to leaves (except the one on the right side front of the group shot that has the very short scape...that one has been growing for months and put up a scape). All of my reblooming bulbs grew leaves throughout the winter and then delighted me with blooms. Once you have new bulbs that bloom, they will establish their own cycle and start blooming usually March-May here. Leave the leaves...they are needed for food production for the bulb!

    Welcome to the group.

    Now blooming in VA...

This batch of bulbs were supposed to be green cybisters. The very first 3 bulbs I planted to check on their true ID bloomed mislabeled. So I decided not to release them and just let them bloom. Sure enough...they were not what they were supposed to be and most were Tango(s) and several were "Marikit"(s). Oh well..

This will be one heck of a pollinating job for sure! Anybody want to come over and help? LOL!

    Cybister Heaven...........

"Brain Drain" is more like it Donna.

Sighhh....I do get so brain tired in these situations. Wish they bloomed one at a time. It would have been easier. But they don't! They will bloom when they want to bloom in their own time. And there is nothing that can stop them in this weather. It's cybister growing season.

    Frank,
Good luck in Alaska. I caught a big King Salmon there years ago and a friend caught a halibut that was more than 400 pounds. Get ready to fill your freezer with fish!
