This is 10' pvc piping shoved into the soil. If you don't have soft soil, like in my raised bed, hammer rebar and place the pvc over the rebar, just check the size of the rebar so you buy the right size pvc diameter. (ask me how I know this ;-: )

The mosquito netting is from an army surlus store, designed to go over a sleeping cot, and perfectly fits the 4'x6' bed. Then lay 2x4's to hold the netting in place. Binder clips, like from the office supply store, help hold the netting in place in the wind. I feel your pain, it's hard to battle those birds.

Sorry about the bird damage, it can be bad, especially with seedlings. I have to cover seedlings with those little "picnic food protector" things now and then to keep birds off of young seedlings.

I am currently deeply in hate with the thrashers. I put up reflectors, but they don't care. They dig and search for bugs and have flung the soil where my seeds are planted - everywhere!

Hold down the spun row cover fabric with u-shaped wires cut about 4 inches long from a spool of thick wire and bend them to make soil pins. That will do until the seedlings get some size to them. Then you can raise the covers a bit while still keeping them pinned down. I don't have thrashers here but I have grasshoppers which will eat every plant in one day. This works for me.
