Banana in pot picture

This is a picture of my first, and only banana plant. I have no idea what kind it is, but it was a gift from my brother. When I got it he said it was out of it's pot for weeks, so it looked pretty sad. but once re potted it quickly took off! and just about a months time it grew 3 new leaves, and the trunk of it looks visibly larger, I'm very surprised in how fast these grow!
