Same as the other, Peruvian, only this is a monstrose variety. Do not know the nature of its affliction.

When was the last time it was thoroughly soaked?

Or, when was the last time you had a rainfall of over 1/13 inch?

The last rainfall was maybe a week ago or 10 days. I am never sure how much to water things here.

Yeah, my experience with Cereus suggests a very thirsty cactus. You could dowse that thing twice per week though summer.

One of the common names for this mutant C. peruvianus is "curiosity plant" because of all of the nooks and crannies. I hope it revives. Let us know how the patient does, hah! Happy gardening!

For the record, though widely used, C. peruvianus seems an illegitimate nomen.

There are native cacti and non-native cacti. In general, you don't need to water native cacti, but you do the non-natives. This is broad generalization, but during the hottest months here, you should err toward more water rather than less, and play it the other way during the cooler months.
