We really like the no taste, fuzzy, small, very yellow melon LOL

Do you have your cantaloupes growing on the gravel without any trellis? They seem to be growing really well. I always thought (am relatively new to this) that a trellis would be needed for cantaloupes.

I find the small yellow melon too chewy to eat. Plus the polyester fuzz just bothers me somehow. Dogs seem to like them though.

Bim- Never have I seen cantaloupe growing on a trellis.(raised on a farm)
I think it might be pretty hard to do, some of those cantaloupes are heavy and large.
The melons are planted in the dirt right next to the gravel. They grow over the gravel, it keeps the melon clean and dry during monsoon.
FN-its that yellow color that really does turn me off

LOL, I was wondering where my Wilson the tennis ball went off to recently, LOL. Nice looking cantaloupes! They're one of my favorite melons too. Yours look really awesome, and thanks for pointing out the lizard, I would have missed it, hah!

I've seen trellised cantaloupes, but as you said, the fruit is heaving and had netting around it tied to the trellis to support it. Your system and its results look great! Thanks for posting the pics, you always have such a nice, productive garden!
