I've seen them at my MOm in laws, it could be one. : )

PV - I WS lilac seeds I harvested from the mature bush growing here. I noticed the seedpods back in October or November and thought, hmnn? I know they self sow freely if my neighbors' are any indication. I WS 1 milk jug and did eventually see a single sprout. It was really tiny and I've since given up on it but I might try again this year.

Well, the lone seedling above now has a companion. Since they look alike, I'm going to call them lilacs (lol).

The one on the right is today's version of the seedling in the pic above, and the one on the left is its new friend.

I suppose I should get them into their own (and bigger) containers, but there may be more seeds trying to awake in there. Wouldn't want to disturb them. Then again, do I need more than two?

Thanks for the progress report! Those sure are cute little sprouts. I gave up on mine weeks ago--neighbor has more than enough 3-5 year seedlings so I don't really need to grow them from seed. I just thought I'd give it a try.
FYI - I harvested both kousa & white flowering dogwood seeds last fall, months before I'd discovered WS and I now have multiple tree seedlings. Kousa grow faster and are nearly a foot tall but the native white flowering dogwood tree seedlings are quite hale & hearty. I'm collecting kousa seeds again this year so if you're interested in growing them, you're welcome to some seeds either in a trade or for a SASBE.
