    LENA!!??

    Well, there went another $100!
Wonder if they'll be adding more....although it's inconvenient that they change their offerings, I guess they don't know if they are going to be able to offer certain hybrids until the grower decides how the harvest will be. ARGH....

Keep your eyes open for more cybisters!!!

Thanks Leena for the great tip!!!

I was able to maintain my self control and ordered only Cyberspace, Cirque de Soleil and Kahlua!! I probably should have ordered Torrone also but I didn't yet...

I'm wondering if their papilio 1804 is the same as my papilio hybrid that is capable of putting out 4 flowers although mine hasn't yet.

Here is a picture of my papilio hybrid that I bought from Maria on EBay several years ago. It looks the same don't you think?

I like this one too, but they're not offering it yet, so Lenna when you see this one give a yell!!âºâº

I love Cyber Space and Torrone. ^__^

It was hubby who noticed Royal Colors update in Facebook! :)
I rushed my order in and after that informed you guys! :)
I will definitely do it again when something interesting shows up and I know you'll do the same.

I ordered the same varieties as Donna plus Torrone. :)

I particularly like the contrast of the snow white filaments and the white star with the red of Cyberspace.

Cirque du Soleil is gorgeous too! âºâºâº

They all are beautiful. Just had to order them.

I was so tempted to add the Papilio 1804 into my order but left it out anyway. Hopefully someone ordered it so we can compare it to yours Donna!
I have many papilio-seedlings growing and I'm hoping some of them would vary from the norm in form and color. Seeds were open pollinated so there is a slight chance... Well, papilios are gorgeous in any form they take.

As I think about it, It might not be the same as mine because if it was, and it could produce 4 flowers, wouldn't they have mentioned that fact??
Anyway, I'm sure there are several folks on the forum that couldn't resist ordering it...;-)

    Dear all,

This direct quote confirms that, "The Papillio 1804 produces more than 2 flowers per scape." Papillio 1804 does look similar to Donna's papilio hybrid, which she purchased from Maria on eBay several years ago.

In August 2011, Paul sent me some papilio hybrids that had been developed for the cut flower trade. The bulbs definitely produce 3-4 flowers per scape. However, their flowers differ from those of Donna's papilio hybrid or Papillio 1804.

I ordered Papillio 1804 (note the interesting spelling used by RC) with the hope that its blooms will be as graceful as those in DonnaâÂÂs photo. When the bulbs bloom in the fall, I will post photos for comparison.

    Cheers,

    Blanca

Ahhhh - my self control didn't even make it through August this year!!!! I have to admit though that these new cybister-type flowers are gorgeous. Also added jewel of the night for good measure lol

I see that Cirque du Soleil and Kahlua are "temporarilly" unavailable I wonder if that is short for sold out. Aren't we all glad we put out orders in !!!

I'm still interested in that peachy one whose picture I posted above....

I think it means exactly that. :) I had to check my order confirmation and yes, there they are!! Huge relief!!

I'd love to get that variety too Donna. Any idea what it is?? I thought it was Cirque de Soleil but no they are two different ones.

Well, it reminds me of "Pixie", the fiasco from last year when so many of us bought several bulbs and all turned out mislabeled! I know Pixie is a Hadeco so it probably couldn't be the same, but it does remind me of it. I think at this point I'd rather have the one from Royal Colors for sure!!

Here is the Pixie we were all looking so forward to.

    Thanks a lot Blanca lol

Any hints on the type of varieties that will be offered?

    Greetings J,

Being an aficionado of Hippeastrum species and exotic hybrids, ever since Royal Colors last offered special cybisters (i.e., Melfi, Tiramisu, Nr. 0016 (green-red cybister), and Jungle Star) and new trumpets (i.e., Salmon Trumpet and Nr. 0089 (Lemon Trumpet) in November 2010, I have been asking Paul to please try to find more for us.

Paul has made me aware that many breeders primarily focus on developing new large and double flowering varieties. They are commercially more interesting than cybisters because they are widely used in cut flower production and pre-potted sprout production.

Royal Colors will be offering more varieties soon. Paul is just waiting for photos from the grower. Presently, I only know that Piri Piri and Tia Maria will not become available, and that Cappucino may possibly become available again. I requested the peachy cybister whose photo Donna posted earlier in this thread, but have not received definitive word regarding its availability. Therefore, I remain hopeful about that beauty!

    Cheers,

    Blanca

    Blanca,

Thanks so much for keeping us all in the loop.

And Donna, I'm guilty of the same thing lol
