You may want to pull the cuttings out and check for rot. If rotted, cut the rot out. Stick the cuttings in a small cup of water and cover with a plastic bag. Wait until roots are 1/2 inch long to plant up. Place in a bright light location and keep it warm (roots won't grow if too cool). Once it is full of vigor, then you can put it in a cooler place (next winter).

What you show in your latest pictures may be okay in the present pot, but to increase your chances of success I would pot them in a much smaller container (maybe a styrofoam or plastic drinking cup for example), add drainage holes, and cover with a plastic bag. Do not keep soaking wet!

Things seemed to have stabilized, but the dogs got excited over something and broke the pot. The seemingly healthy cutting broke in two. Upon inspection the stems, both had grown 3/4" roots.

I've take the advice on using a plastic bag. I now have two plastic cups, with fine drainage holes. Each cup is inside a large zip lock plastic bag.

I generally keep things pretty dry, but with closed plastic bag trip it is like a continual rain.
