Propagating Escargot

Like a newbie, I need someone to hold my hand through this process. I just got a shipment of plants today, one of them was the beautiful escargot. One stem was pinching so I picked it off to propagate. I used the helpful information from this forum: cut it into small triangles with a main vein on each, stuck the tip in medium and bagged it. Does it need light? I read on another forum that some plants don't need light. One person said she stuck it under her bed while it was rooting. Should I put it under a grow light? Will it be happier on top of my fridge which gets some light.
