Such lucious photos. I have this begonia as well. About a month ago the leaves started turning pinkish. I chopped them off and it seems to be doing better now.

I wasn't so lucky with my Mom's beefsteak begonia. She 90 and she got a cutting years ago from a now deceased friend. It won't be the same but I'd love to relpace it. Any ideas on where I can get one or a cutting?

Strangely, I just inherited two large Beefsteak begonias--although I did not know that is what they were until someone online identified for me. I love the plants because I loved the owner and he had them his whole life...or 30-40 years anyway...given him by his grandmother. I do NOT have a green thumb and am nervous trying to learn about them. What can you tell me of their care?
Also, how do you post photos on your site?

Are these the same as the one in my link below. I just got one a couple of months ago from an in-law that had it for ?? years. Mine started loosing all of its leaves about a month ago, but now is growing many new ones. I didn't know what kind it was, then I found the pic. below (link), and 5 min. later found this post.

No, they aren't the same. I have 'Gobe' too but it is a lot smaller. They may have some of the same parents. Also check out 'Bunchii'. My 'Gobe' has leaves no bigger than 2 to 3 inches across. My 'Erythrophylla' now has some leaves over 7 inches across.
