You sure do! a Wetland garden perhaps, a natural bog nope. In zone 7 Gunnera manicata would probably love one of those "wet spots", and talk about a BOLD accent to the garden! WOW

I found the following definition of a bog: a poorly drained usually acid area rich in accumulated plant material, frequently surrounding a body of open water, and having a characteristic flora (as of sedges, heaths, and sphagnum)

This describes a low-lying area of my property although, because I live in limestone, it's probably not acidic. I've just recently started visiting this forum because I'm starting to plant water-loving plants in this wet area surrounding a small natural pond.

So, in my very inexpert opinion, I'd say you do have a natural bog. Lucky you! I'm not sure why the other posters said no, maybe someone can explain.

P.S. Many people who have a bog garden have created it artificially using a liner. Maybe you have a natural bog garden (or a place where a bog garden should naturally go) as opposed to a natural bog.

I think a bog is a wetland that lies on a peat bed doesn't it?
