From my experience with fig trees, they do tend to go through a little shock when being transplanted. Also, as the cooler months come into play it will loose all it's leaves anyway. no worries, they will come back next spring. As long as your branches are durable and bending without breaking, you know the plant is alive, and healthy. I wish I had room for a fig tree in my current garden, as I love them fresh off the tree. Never have been crazy about fig cookies though :) As the days cool down in October, I would reduce watering to once a week, and then in November to once every two weeks, December/January once every 3 weeks, a good deep watering should be plenty, especially if we are getting our winter rains.
