is that in or near your bog? yes great fall colours and nice lighting on this picture

I normally try to avoid photos into the street (seeing as how I live on a rather main road)but backlit by the sun was perfect.

the tree is in the original bog garden I planted in 1997, then moved to this house dirt liner and all in 2000. Under the tree are Pitcher plants, Cranberries and assorted other bog plants. I harvested about 5 pounds of cranberries this fall.

Here is the actual bog, photo taken a couple of years ago, you can see the Sumac on the right side.

It's good to hear from you Fred. This forum hasn't been getting many postings from the peat bog crowd.
The sumac is fantastic. Do you have a wife that puts up with such things in your yard?
My bog suffered this summer with the drought. The pitcher plants hardly grew and I lost my purpurea. The Judith Hindle did great, though.

Beautiful photo Fred. How big will it get? Does it sucker?

I've seen Poison sumac that's 20' tall. It is a small tree and does not sucker. The deer kept it small the first couple of years (yes deer eat poison sumac), but now it's mostly beyond their reach. It's also especially nice having a male, nice flowers without fruit to spread it around!
