Tuberous Begonia Getting Leggy

I have the most gorgeous tuberous begonia. I am new to growing them and it has been a beautiful, blooming summer. I live in South Florida and it took full sun (although my back area is screened) and bloomed away. Just the past couple of weeks, however, I have noticed that it seems to be loosing all of it's leaves from about 1/2 way down the stem (the stems range from 8-20 inches long) so that the leaves are curling up brown, dying and though blooming from 1/2 out to the end, they are looking leggy and like it's dying. The temperatures here are still in the upper 80s - low 90s, but I am thinking that I need to prune it back but am unable to find any direction. Does anyone have any suggestions. I hate to cut all of these beautiful blooms off, but I want to do what is going to keep it healthy as I have fallen in love with this plant! Please let me know if anyone has any ideas?
