Thanks but I don't think so. Here's a picture of the flower, or what there is of it. It's not verbena bonaris although it kinda looks like it but there is more leaf area and the stems are sortof squared off

Square stems are indicative of the mint family, but some others, too, I think. Many plants in the mint family are really thuggish and invasive in some areas.

I had the same thing, or something similar, show up this year. When small I thought it was verbenena bonariensis also, but as it grew it became obvious that the leaves were a different shape. I yanked it.

Is that all the flowers come to? The plant and leaves look a lot like Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria) but there's more to it's flower.

Square stems are found in both the Lamiaceae (mint) and Verbenaceae (Verbena) family...so you plant belongs to one of the above :D

Kare, yes yes, I have ALOT of it and hoping that it was something that i *wanted*, i haven't yanked it yet. I'm usually pretty good about weeding so it had to have come in with something else last year and i somehow missed it

Donn - yes that is all the flowers are. the picture does not show scale - right now they are about a thumbnail size. I did google meadowsweet - that is not it
