I don't know your area so can't tell you where to shop.

But my 3 favorite soils are ProMix, Fafard, or Sunshine Metromix. You might find them at a local nursery. Unlike MG, they're professional mixes.

Another suggestion: Go to a favorite local nursery which grows it's own plants. (Not a big box store like Home Cheapo that ships in plants to sell). Ask what they use for their own growing. I doubt it will be MG but rather a professional mix. Ask if they'll sell you a bag. It usually won't be on display for sale to customers.

Another possiblity: local hydroponics stores. I buy compressed bales of ProMix at Worm's Way, a hydroponic store that has a store locally.

Thanks Adidas, for the info on Miracle Grow. I'm going to use a new brand this season.

Promix. You can get the Agway label promix (same stuff) if you have an Agway near by.

Aha! Found some Promix! (For anyone in my area (No. VA) it's at Williams Nursery in Sterling) Looked for Agway...they don't seem to have stores south of MD. Worms Way has only 6 stores...none in VA...neat store though :). Ladyrose, you're welcome!
