I've never noticed a scent but maybe it does and I can't smell it. Try odorata if you want a scented begonia. J&P used to have scented tuberous begonias but I could never keep them over an entire summer.

Okay thank you! I have a nice little list now of begonia, odorata being at the top. :) I'm super excited to try some begonias, they seem to bloom so freely from what I've been reading...and some very pretty ones as well. What a difference from the little bedding plants I see at home depot! lol

Sometimes Home Depot will get some interesting begonias in besides bedding ones. You never know what you will find. Years ago they had several different cane begonias that were very well grown, quite large, and super cheap.

One more - Silver Dollar. I've gotten rexes, rhizos, and canes from HD but they are not a begonia store. You will just have to visit often to snatch new plants as they arrive in the store (they often get new batches of plants daily) in the growing months.

Red? Purple would be Maurice Amey and the nearly black is Lynda Dawn.
