That could very well be your problem. A good dusting with Captan anti-fungal powder will help.

If the blotches are not really blotches, but are more like red stripes or lines on the leaves and scapes, the problem could be a tiny mite... I can't spell or pronounce the name, but I know that if the problem isn't too advanced, a good spray with a 3 in 1 insecticide/miticide/fungicide will do the trick... just be sure to do the follow up applications, too.

Here rust is a major problem on all Amaryllids so I treat with Captan 3 times per summer every year as a preventative and if you have a summer of rain like we did this year then you can still have problems so you spray 4-5x......mite damage looks totally different so you will have no problem telling them apart. Rust is easy to take care of.....mites not so easy to completely erradicate......best of luck :o) Dan

I have a bad infestation of rust on my amaryllis. I have cats that tend to play in my flower beds at times :) I want to treat the rust with something that will not harm my cats. Does anyone know an organic remedy? Or a commercial remedy that is safe for pets? Thanks, I have only moved here recently and am not used to this much humidity. And I have committed the mortal sin of watering overhead. I'm learning. Please help if you can.

Cinnamon is a natural antifungal agent. Some use it when they don't have access to Captan. It couldn't hurt!

Among my hippeastrums rust on papillio only. It takes the form of small to 3 mm in diameter ulcers (pustules) of which are poured spores. They are located on the grounds of the leaves.
Since this disease is very difficult to treat because the rust
almost symbiotic parasitic fungus. He lives in living tissues. Therefore systemic fungicide needed.
