This Dyckia was given to me by a friend in March 2007, & at the time, brought my Dyckia collection to a grand total of 3 plants! ItÂs a NZ hybrid of marnier-lapostollei crossed with Silver King, and named after the late Brian Chudleigh. ThereÂs a bit of a story to this hybridÂBrian Chudleigh wanted to cross Dyckia m-l with Silver King, but at the time Brians plant of Dyckia m-l was about to flower Brian & his wife were off to Australia for a holiday. So Brain gave his plant to a friend who had Dyckia Silver King in flower. The plants were crossed, & Brian sowed the seed, & raised this lovely plant. The plant was registered in Feb 2009 as a fitting tribute to Brian & his hybridising work.

Thanks to some good advice on this forum from Chanin, my plant has grown well, & in August 2009 it flowered for the first time, sending up 4 flower spikes. Unfortunately I didnÂt get any good picÂs at that time, but as luck would have it, the plant decided to flower again, this time sending up 2 flower spikes. So I managed to get a few picÂs this time!

There must be something quite addictive about these plants, as now I have a few hundred Dyckia!
