Hi,

Winter-sowing is basically the same as spreading seeds out or planting in Fall but instead of seeds getting washed away, moved, etc., they are in one place! How steep is your hill? I have 3 hills I've turned into gardens and I plan on also doing a wildflower hill with the worst hill! You actually reminded me of a few things for my hill! LOL You can def plant now and see what comes up in Spring but things might be moved around and washed down the hill farther!

I don't wanna push you to milk jugs but even just a few could def help your cause! You can plant out as soon as Spring arrives, keep the hill as weed-free as possible and you should have some great flowers that way too! OR try both ways! Do a few containers and some seeds now :)
This Spring, I tried to gain control from the weeds and start over with gardening and wintersowing helped so much! I still hate my hills tho..hahaha

The hill is really the side of a berm not very steep. I'm thinking of placing some rocks as a sort of a retaining wall.

I've done direct winter sowing using cut down 'rings' of 2-litre pop bottles to contain the seeds, then covered with dried leaves. Works very well for poppies. Don't know if it will work on a hill though, I used it on level ground.

THAT'S A GREAT IDEA .I'll try that . Thanks to all.
