The Moss...............................

is working so good!!

I received plants from Country Gardens that were grown in spaghnam moss or something like that. All three plants had huge rootballs!

So, I thought, that is a good idea, and all my recent cuttings went into moss as they arrived, and they are all rooting. Good, good news!

Then, I looked at some older problem cuttings and un-potted them carefully. I think my soil, while super well-draining, is still too deep and is staying too wet. So, I put back 1" of fresh soil into the cup, set the cutting into the cup, and gently added about 3" of premoistened moss that I've squeezed out excess moisture of, and then, I put some more fresh potting soil, less than 1" deep, to hold the misture in the moss. If you have big enough plastic bags to wrap the cup in, you can leave off the top soil.

The moss is super airy and very well draining.

Even if you don't use moss, try filling your cups or pots with only 1 1/2" to 2" of soil- ya do have watch it, cause it dries out quickly but virtually no rotting. I'm having much better luck rooting my cuttings and keeping them alive doing either of these methods. Growing in moss or just a little bit of soil!
