    And the flower...Papilio VII

Could Papilio VII be a cross of Papilio and Aulicum????

Wonderful pics.....as I recall, this is one of the epiphytic species, but maybe not. Very nice :o) Dan

I found the bulbs in the garbage two years ago, its was big and moldy. its flowering from the first year. also its in the same flowerpot with anothers bulbs, its leaf is healhy.thank you for your warning. Juan

Yes, it is epiphitic species.I give same taken care that to other hippeastrum (red lion, supreme garden etc). Y do not take care like epiphytic specie. Regards. Juan

Para Maria Eugenia en español , espero que nadie se moleste porque lo haga asi. ( I hope nobody feel bothered because I leaf a spanish anwer ). Encontre los bulbos con tamaño grande en Portugal hace dos años, estaban tirados en la basura, yo los recogi, los sembre y me florecieron desde el primer año. Saludos. Juan

Beautiful photos! I often study the pictures and think about which ancestors might be in a bulb's "pedigree"... genetics is a very complex and interesting subject!

I'm only sorry I can't explain my posts "en Espanol"... I only know enough to say the basics... but please, do converse with those who can follow along! :-)

Try to cross the contrary))or something new.....can be Aulikum & Nelsonii)) I have pollen.

    Elena,

I had great luck using nelsonii on this and that, everything I put her on took if I remember correctly.

If you only have one seedling of aulicum x papilio I would still try. One seedling might not be representative of what else you might get from that cross. They would all be lovely I'm sure!! Good luck with whatever you choose...and of course you could always do the reverse cross when your papilios bloom....☺☺☺Donna

Do you remember seeing Pavel's picture of aulicum x papilio ; it was stunning!!

Yes, I remember the beautiful flowers))

    Thanks Donna!

    Hi Elena,

Your flowers are absolutely gorgeous :-))))) I have quite a few seedlings of aulicum and aulicum x papilio but unfortunately, it will be some time before they flower. Thank goodness I have patience...for plants anyways.

    Warm Regards,

    Fred

so gorgeous Elena ! did you get it from seeds ?

    Hello Béatrice!

No, this plant was purchased by me as an adult. But I have Aulikum seed Mauro Peixoto, it is the same size and shed their leaves in the summer, but not flowered. I look forward to next season.

    Best wishes,

    Elena.
