cryptanthus rotting?
I know that Cryptanthus is a terrestrial bromeliad, and it likes to be kept moist. I've got two little pots in my office. I work part-time and I'm here only two days per week. Last week I had the crypts in the same tray as a couple of ferns. I was in a hurry, and I dumped a bit too much water on the plants--so they sat in water over several days. The ferns don't seem to mind, but the crypts seem to have rotted roots. At least they seem to have no roots at all. Each little pot has a single crown with three little pups at the center. Could they have flowered instead of rotting?
Pardon the lame questions--I'm not experienced in the ways of the terrestrial bromeliad!!
I do plan to root the little pups.
