We got just over 3 inches of rain in the past 24 hrs. Better late than never I suppose.

Looks pretty good to me considering the conditions... my bluebeard is taking off too. I absolutely love the spicyness of the flower heads as they dry when I collect the seeds. Right now the bees are having a grand old time buzzing around it doing their bee business.

Very pretty!!! Russian Sage plants are tough as nails! :)

I will ws more of RS this coming winter.

My lupine blooms in the spring, is yours a different variety or just regional weather/flowering differences?

Just realized with the Internet connection problems I was having, I never answered cAROL's or mnwsgal's questions.

mnwsgal - the white lupine was WS and bloomed 3rd week of September for reasons known only to the lupine & Mother Nature. I gave a seedling to a friend back in May & hers bloomed same as mine, September 18. I think it got confused.

cAROL - the Russian sage looks beautiful from a distance if planted in groups or drifts. A single plant won't really pop. They're very elegant plants with their fuzzy purple flowers & silver-green, fragrant foliage. I like it paired with gaura/wandflower.

neil & snapdragon36 - glad you liked the pictures. I've got lots more late bloomers on the camera--will download in a day or two & post. I'm surprised & impressed at what's still blooming so late in the season. My notes will help me keep an eye out for them around this time next year. Looks to me as though gaura/wandflower, Russian sage & Montauk daisy are a winning combination for the full sun autumn garden while black snakeroot & toad lily color up the shade bed.
