Hi 102 -- Your Desmond choice sports a smart Suzani fabric. And while I found Desmond to be the obvious choice with lines nearly identical to the sofa, I actually voted for Amelie, as its silhouette borrows some lines from the sofa, but adds a few simplified curves for interest. I think Amelie plays well with the sofa without looking like a matched set.

I like the Amelie chair with your sofa for the same reasons as barnhartgallery. It's a contemporary twist on the traditional wing back so it will help your space keep current looking. It looks very comfortable, too - a great place to cozy up with a book.

I won't be ready to buy for about a month or so, and in the mean time am looking forward to all this great feedback. When the room is finally finished, I'll post some pics. It's been a looooong time coming.

Sorry, but the Amalie foot stool, with the ornate wood work, just doesn't seem to go with your sectional. It barely looks like it goes with the chair.

Am planning on having the slipcover show off the legs of the chair, instead of go to the ground. Do you think that sounds like it would work?

where did you order your slipcover?

The sectional is already a slipcovered piece from Arhaus. The Desmond chair is also from Arhaus. I'm buying the solid green "Willow" fabric for the chair from Arhaus and having a local upholstered create the slip cover for the chair (about $375 for the chair and a little more for the matching ottoman) The sectional fabric is a solid from Arhaus called Danish Grey. All will go with a sisal or synthetic sisal.

The Desmond is the design choice but Amelie is great and I think something you would still be using 30 years from now. The only reason I picked Desmond over Amelie was your cat comment. Amelie looks like it would be a hair magnet

Thanks so much for the feedback. I really appreciate design comments from people with a real interest. I don't think the cat will be a problem since I will be slip covering whichever chair I choose. It's more about the shape and lines of the chair. The interesting thing to me is that, though the Desmond has gotten many more "votes" over the amelie. The Amelie has received more thoughtful comments and I'm feeling the comments carry more weight with me than the votes. I'm a big fan of folks who know how to talk about why they like what they like, re: design.

You don't state the height of your sectional. Usually that is something we take into consideration when selecting chairs to go with a sofa or sectional.

Definitely the Desmond for style, however, make sure you consider the scale and size of the chair when making your decision.

I also vote for the Amelie - not a fan of furniture looking too match-ey and that chair's style would compliment (but not be too exactly similar) to the sofa that you have chosen. If you're choosing a pale green fabric, then I assume your cats have light colored fur?! I have 2 myself and I recommend getting a Pet Hair Eraser (bought mine @ Bed, Bath & Beyond) - looks like a big sponge, but you can just wipe it across the fabric and it collects all the hair that's been shed onto the fabric. Good for in between vacuuming! ;o)

Thanks for all the comments. I am feeling that Amelie is probably going to be the one. I like the non-matchy aspect and the dramatic height difference of the chair. I will post a pick around the holidays (hoping to pull the room together by then) Houzz is a great design source. I need to spend some time now giving my comments to others as payback.
