Pink Diamond

Oooohh Lah Lah, the name alone makes me tremble! The scape is growing nicely. Here it is on my living room table in a vase with water and colord beads. Hopefully, it will be a nice "Welcome Home" sight when I get back from the hospital! Don't mind the dead fish! lol

What a great idea, Cindee! I hope it will still be blooming when you get back... it looks like it will open very soon!

That is one photogenic fish. It is on almost all of your pictures. :o) He is a sneaker... He sneaks in all the time.

We love to fish, soultan. My cousin got that fish for Dennis lat time she visited. I used to collect fish objects. I have fish plates, fish bowls, cups, plaques and fish vases all over the place. This is one of my favorite fish...

I picked it up somewhere in the Caribbean when I used to do a lot of scuba diving.

And I am Pisces. But I don't eat fish.

Pink Diamond is getting bolder. She has a long graceful neck.

The suspense is building: we want to see the bloom. I take it that you haven't gone in the hospital yet, since you are still posting. How long are you going to be there?
    Best wishes.

Thank you Palm. I go in on Dec. 5th and only for three days. I should be home by the following Friday evening or Saturday morning. I am hoping for it all to be over quickly! My amaryllis right now are a good distraction as I count down the days. In addition, I have had to get Christmas shopping out of the way. I took Dennis to get a new rotisserie Grill with infra red panels yesterday. Today I will send off fruit baskets and so be done with the shopping ahead of time.

I haven't even started any of the shopping I need to do... I'm more the last minute shopper type! I always have been!

I have quite a bit of the things I need to make out of the way... but for some reason, I always seem to put off the shopping part... I hate crowded stores... I hate the fact that everything is so darn expensive... and I hate that Christmas has become so commercial... it's almost lost the true meaning...

Cindee... your Pink Diamond is really coming along! I, too, have a couple of flowers ready to burst open! I'll try to post a few shots when I get finished cleaning the kennel...

Oh, and I have a couple of seed pods in the making, too! Exotic Star and Sweet Lilian each have a pod swelling! I'm really excited about that!

The beauty is in the bloom
    {{gwi:438687}}

Nifty background! Any time now for the opening! Looks like it will be gorgeous!

It will open up before you go to the hospital and will wait for you blooming when you are coming back.

Jodi, I just grabbed a placemat off the table to block out the TV in the background.

What a fab idea! I should have thought of that... my photos always have the window in the background... I should prop something pleasing up behind the flowers for picture taking!

I don't know why this Amaryllis captivates me the way it does. I can't seem to get enough of it. Here's a late night photo of her. I think she is stunning.
    {{gwi:438688}}

Look, she is sticking her tongue out at me!

She is stunning, Cindee! What lovely color peeking out! I can't wait to see it fully opened!

I think you are teasing me knowing that I wanted Pink Diamond for a really long time... And now it is going to flower for me... :o) I can't wait to see it in real life.

I bet it's going to open today!

The largest bud reminds me of a female version of "Seymour", and she really does look like she's sticking out her tongue!! That's so typically female... she's taking her sweet time opening, and she's even teasing you! I can almost hear a little high-pitched "nyah nyah!" LOL!

A little help from some alstromeria. Are you drooling yet Soultan? The color is so luscious!

Admit to lurking, watching this beauty unfurl!! Gorgeous color cindee!!

What a gorgeous combination, Cindee! The Alstromeria makes the pink even deeper! And the deep pink of the Amaryllis brings out the darker stripe in the Alstromeria!

Now I have to find out about Alstromeria! Cindee! You're corrupting me horribly! Keep going... what else do you have?! LOL!

LOL Jodi, My local Publix Grocery sells bunches of alstromeria. Though the grow from seed easily in Florida, I have not had any luck. The heat I think. So for $3.33 each week I buy a bunch. They last 7-10 days and come in delicate to vibrant colors. They are always on my dining room table.

You guys should see the rich color of Dimond tonight. She is absolutely stunning!! More pics in the morning.

I'm glad it is Pink Diamond indeed. :o) We had good luck with it then. I just planted White Nymph yesterday. The second new bulb of the season.

Here she is....Full Blown, Big and Beautiful

Wow!! She was worth waiting for! What a beauty! Any thoughts as to what you'll pollinate it with? Just curious...

I just tried a cross between Red Pearl and Aphrodite... I doubt it will work, but it's always worth a try!

Pink Diamond is going on my ever-growing "wish list"! She's a charmer, all right!

I will definitely pollinate with San Remo, since that is the only other fresh pollen I have right now.

    This is the combo:
    {{gwi:434606}} {{gwi:382347}}

Of course I will do some selfing.

We are going to have to have one big seed swap this spring!

Cindee...Pink Diamond is beautiful. I knew I should have asked you to get me one of this...arrgghhhh!!! But that's alright. Something to purchase next year or from WWF this season. Pink DiamondXSan Remo would be very nice.

    Its a pretty bloom!

Maria, if I happen to be by Walmart, I'll see if they have any left. I can save it for you if they do. I am anxious too see how soultan's pink diamond turns out, to.

Just to give you an idea of size....BIG!
    {{gwi:438693}}

Cindee...I am practically drooling here...LOL! I researched on it and it is supposed to be HUGE with 10" blooms. That was after I ordered from you. Oh well... I would appreciate it if you can find me one but please don't make a special trip for me. Love ya girl!

That's a lovely combination, Cindee... I hope one or the other takes, and you get lots of seeds! It seems like forever, but when you finally get to see what's been produced, it'll be something to behold, I'll bet!

Jodi, last winter was my first attempt at pollination. The wonderful friends here taught me how. I was having extreme difficulty moving and walking and so Dennis helped me bring all my bulbs to the patio where I could pot them, keep them near me and pollinate like crazy. It was like Candy Land. I pollinated everything I could. I lost a few here and there, this year I will hopefully be more organized. But OH, what delight in creating your own babies. I was giving away seeds like a farmer at a market. It was so fun. This year I will be more controlled in how I pollinate and hopefully keep better records.

Wow, she is gorgeous. What a show-stopper!!! I saw boxed kits of Pink Diamond at a local market for $9.99 and passed because I really have too many bulbs but geez....temptation, temptation!

I was looking for this variety for forever now. I am so glad, Cindee that you could get one for me. :o) One less in my wish list that I thought went out of circulation because of Lambada... Now I will have to get Lambada, make the two flower at the same time and see the difference.

Everyone should have a pink diamond! I thought my clown produced large flowers, but this baby is HUGE! It is now standing tall in my living room window with it's 3rd flower opening. I really hope it gives me another scape. I will be sad when it is done blooming. It just brightens my day tremendously!

I am sorry, may I just share a couple more? I can't help myself she is so beautiful and photogenic! I promise not to bore you any more after these.

You can have 200 pictures of it up here, and it wouldn't be boring... Just be glad that you have digital camera and you can upload pictures by the dozen.

AAaakkkkk!! My San Remo Pollen looks Yucky! I have it in a plastic baggie and it looks like moisture got to it. Around the edges there is some bright yellow, dusty pollen, however to the center the pollen parts (?) look orangey and damp. Do you think I can still use it on Pink Diamond? I so want to pollinate it with San Remo. I am leaving the baggie open for a day to see if it dries out a bit more. What do you think my chances are?

I would try. What have you got to lose?

I just bought one of these from WalMart today. I'll try to post my pictures as well!

What did you do with yours after it bloomed?

I do hope our Walmart decides to have a sale... I must get one of these! I also must get one of the Flamingo Stars they had in the same display! I wish they had a white one, but I'll settle for any of them, as long as the price is right! I just can't justify paying full price for what they have available!

I can feel something fishy here, but wow, very very nice blooms. Thanks for sharing the pictures, Cindee.

Our Walmart here didn't carry Pink Diamond. I will watch for it next year.
