    Rebecca,
Not sure I understand your message, but if you want your imaged to show up in posts using Photobucket, just click the 3rd option down (HTML Code) and you'll get a yellow box that flashes "copied". Once you have that you can just come back to your message and click "Cntrl V" to paste it in. Then your photo will display within your ad like this:

Sorry, this was just the last photo I put in!
Hope that helps you and others. BTW...for everyone...PhotoBucket (Photobucket.com) is free! They have recently reorganized the site (I thought it was more user friendly before...so now you have to browse your album to find and link).

    Questions...just ask!

Above is the additional code Photobucket gives and below is the third line of code normally used to embed images in a post.

As you see, neither works the way it should.

Rebecca... I'm not sure I understand what you're doing exactly...

Under each of your pictures in PhotoBucket, there are several choices that appear when you mouse over the photo. Go to the 3rd option under the photo you want to embed here, click it once to highlight it, then either right click and copy, or do a control+C on your keyboard... then, come here, click into the body of your message, and right click and paste.

Quite honestly, I'm not sure where you're retrieving the coding you're trying to paste from. I don't go to "Share This" or "Share This Album", or any other PhotoBucket suggestions. I go directly to my chosen photo, mouse over, and the options show up underneath.

I think you may be going to your individual pictures... I don't do that. I log into PhotoBucket and just go the album. I'll have a whole page of my photos in front of me... that's when I mouse over a photo I want to post.

Try that. I hope it helps. I know, it can be confusing when you're first starting out. :-)

Is photobucket the only way to post pics on the forums? I don't use photobucket and I've noticed their pics are often gone on older posts.

Rebecca, Your slide show comes through beautifully on both posts when you click "view all images"? Is that not what you were trying to post? Just curious, you won't get any help from me, I'm a Picasa struggler.

If you are trying to post an individual photo from photo bucket, the code starts with <...and end with> (or something like that but it doesn't start with http://... it's not a link to a website, it embeds the image in the message so that you don't have to click on anything and the reader can see the photo in the message.

But your post wasn't clear as you didn't ask a question, yet your header suggests that you are having a problem posting photos.

OK, Sorry about that. I am trying to post a slide show and apparently there is something in the scripting here at GW that does not allow that. I have no issues posting individual images from Photobucket.

There is the etc coding one does before the image code, but even that is not helping so I obviously am doing something wrong there as well (no + signs of course).

Donna, one should not have to click on the 'View All Images' link as the slide show should present above those two 'button links'. I post these 'slide shows' on other forums w/o any problems, so the answer has to be that GW does not allow them. Guess I will resort to using the optional url below. . . .

There are several free online photo storage websites... PhotoBucket is the one I use, and the one I'm most familiar with... though it's not the only one. Picasa is another, Flickr is yet another... and I'm sure there are several more.

When you see missing images from PhotoBucket on a forum, it means the owner moved that photo to a different location or different album online. That's one of the reasons why I don't separate my album into folders... because I don't want my pictures to disappear.

I am attempting to post my own images from my own slide shows that I have created using Photobucket. They work beautifully everywhere else, even on my new hippie Blog, the slide shows just do not show up here like they are supposed to. I also have Picasa and quite a number of digital art creations on Flickr and I have countless albums on Web Shots as well.

GW seems the only pl;ace I have issues posting certain images to. Frustrating to say the least.

I set up a Blog and will refer to it from hence forward.

First of all, there are different type of codes. Most image sharing sites give you BBCodes (two main types) or HTML codes.

BBCodes are designed to be simple for forum posting, but Gardenweb can't translate BBCodes and your browser naturally doesn't do BBCodes either.
BBCodes are for forums that use special forum software such as VBulletin, phpBB, or Invision which you may have noticed before. And HTML is (or was) the standard code for coding webpages, although their use on forums are limited because it can wreak havoc.

The problem is you are trying to post a slideshow. And these things are usually encoded into a flash file. Many forums don't allow such embedding anyways, they are meant to posted on your homepage, such as a blog or a Myspace page where there is more liberal use of HTML than a forum. One of the reason it is limited on forum is because it can screw up the formatting of the site. Many html codes and file types are blacklisted because they can be used for malicious purposes as well, so naturally most sites will not support such codes except for basic embedding HTML codes for images (not flash files such as slideshows or Youtube videos) or text formatting HTML codes.

OK! got it, thanks Jodi! I went with photobucket as that seems to be what most people use, and now I know what happens to the pics.

Wow, Tally! Such destruction... how sad! Mother Nature is quite a force... but I also see some green, and a lot of potential! It might even be thought of as an opportunity to redesign your gardens... a lot of work, yes, but I think the results will be beautiful once again!
