Pink Quill - misting?

Hello

Have been gardening for 20 yrs but just purchased a Tillandsia Cyanea (Pink Quill). Reading up on the care of this plant but a bit confused.

My plant came in a soil mix (not sure what) and it is moist to the touch which seems to be ok per the info I am reading online. (May repot in recommended orchid mix)

Where it is a "air plant" (epiphyte) my question is this:

Does is requiring misting along with the moist soil?

or will the moist soil be enough?

or does this type of air plant use it roots for water instead of water from its surrounding (such as traditional air plants)?

I have 3 tiny air plants (possible plumosa) that I purchased last summer and I immerse them in a sink of water for 10 min twice a week and they are doing fine.

Thanks,

BL
