I must say two Matterhorns I have didn't look anything like that. The petals were of simple white line, and gentle shape, really big too! Nothing like yours which is gorgeous!

Did you consider Athene? There is one on EBay and they mention it is fragrant but the pictures aren't that clear but I do think I see some frilliness although maybe not as frilly as yours....Donna

I just Googled Athene and there appears to be an Israeli version as well as a Dutch version and they are both using the same picture with no ruffles. The picture on EBay looks more like yours but who really knows what it is...it was just a thought.

Pg 56 of V. Read's book:
"... the gently undulating, frilly tepals of Hippeastrum Athene and Hippeastrum Christmas Giftâ¦"; however no mention that either of these two are fragrant. Doesn't mean that this isn't a sport that has developed a fragrance.

Thanks for the suggestions. Christmas Gift looks most likely, but the flowers are too small, being 14-16 cm in diameter, rather than 18-19cm according to emaryllis and Veronica Read's book, and the scapes are 25 cm, rather than 45-55 cm. Perhaps because of first-year stress? I have a "Christmas Gift" bulb, so I will be able to compare when that flowers.

I think the tepals are too broad and overlap too much to be Athene. I have attached a photo that shows it straight on.
