The problem with bromeliads is they span two continents (3 if you count that one in Africa) and grow in a very wide range of conditions. Add to that the wide range of conditions that we put them in ourselves and you can see why there aren't any really good guides.

You're best off asking specific questions about specific plants and where you want to grow them.

I have a few tillandsias which I will upload to the forum later. My idea is to keep them indoors for the most part, because the majority are so small I might lose them outdoors. Our climate in Mobile is super humid, hovers in the 90s until October. I have some shaded places outdoors the larger ones could be safe I think.

What I'm trying to do is create a spot on the north wall of my bathroom with its high windows where I can locate some of these tillandsias, and some of the bromeliads too. The light is good for African violets, but of course no direct sunlight would strike anything on that side of the house.

Also, would a small bromeliad prosper inside a terrarium?
I don't have any small enough at this time and do not want to break off any small pups. Would this environment make them rot?

Also, I want to know about watering a brom which has a spiky inflorescence just beginning to form in the top crown. Should I put water in the cups BELOW that crown, or is that "flower" able to take the water covering it?

I seem to have better luck with broms than with tillandsias.

Any advice appreciated. I'll post more pictures later this week.
