New beds

Who built new beds this summer after a rousing success with wintersowing? I did. Three new beds were added to my backyard specifically to house all the new plants I intend to grow this year. My perennial bed isn't even full yet. :)

We added 2 new beds and cleaned out an older one. I planted hardy mums in 6 half-barrels, they are all still green even though the blossoms are gone, so it looks like I may need to move them in the spring because I prefer to have annuals in the barrels. I have lots of plans for the gardens this year.

oohh, me! me! I did! I made a new lasagna bed where an old clothesline used to be, and a second LB over an area in the back that was nothing but rock once you dug down a foot. And I've widened all my garden area bordering the property by coming out 12-18" into the lawn. (who needs grass-less to mow!) got big plans - hope I can come close to accomplishing them.

I completed 1 new bed 4ft x 50ft. It is full of this years ws plants. And I Started 2 new ones beds. I also Widened 2 border beds and the 2 across the front of the house. Oh and extended the length of one 4 more feet. That 4 feet of mulch has nothing planted in it yet. I have not decided which new plants will go there yet. I think something tall. I always go for the tall ones!

We built 2 new raised bed areas for tomatoes, but they'll actually replace the old tomato patches nearby, so they'll actually a replacement, not additional ones.

My husband bulit 2 small wood frames, then we added about 4 inches of new clay "topsoil" that we had trucked in, and topped that with a hump of organic matter, topped it with bedsheets ala interbay mulch bed.

    Me too.
DH built 2 4x16 raised beds and I also did 5 smallish on the ground lasagna's I love them all.
I already told him I want/need more of the 4x16 raised beds.
This time I'm going to add some top soil too. Pure compost really shrinks a lot. It's about half of what it was this spring.

My veggie beds are replacements too. Two 4' x 8' beds and a 4' x 16' bed. I'm gonna need more, I know already. Either that or tomatoes are gonna have to be grown out by the street.

I created and filled two new beds during the summer with ws plants from holding beds, one a red bed and one for ornamental grasses. A week ago I finished a long bed bordering the driveway to plant next spring with ws hibiscus which are in a holding bed and extended an area for a cutting bed. The unusually warm November was a perfect time for creating beds.

I had a fence put in for my new puppy and I prepared new beds all around the outside. I am crossing my fingers for a successful first year at wintersowing to fill them :)

I added a new lasagna bed, and extended another one. Didn't get around to making nearly as many as I had hoped. Sigh, but then, I never do...
