Pigments

I figure this is as good a place to ask as any.

What's the name of the pigment in plants that gives black coloration?

I've been wondering about the efficiency of accessory pigments in plants that lack chlorophyll'b' (at least i think it's b) in terms of growth rates. Basically im just wondering how plants like Cryptanthus 'black beauty' & 'black magic' work without chlorophyll. I can't seem to find or am overlooking the pigment responsible for black colorations.

So if anyone knows any books or online sources where i could read up on this i would greatly appreciate a link or two in the right direction. Or if someone wants to explain it to me that would be great too...just make sure to dumb it down. :)
