I am trying to pollinate my Ae.'Foster's Favorite' which I have had in my possession for nearly 30 years.

A few questions. Do the flowers open fully or are the anthers and stamen etc hidden and need to be broken into.

In my photo you can see the top three flowers have had the blue bits broken off. Am I being a little impatient and not waiting for the flower to fully open or is this what I need to do. I am at the moment pollinating Ae.gamosepala. This has to forced open to get to the pollen etc. Is it the same for 'Foster's Favourite'.
