My guess: Monadenium.

Rodica

Buck,
this beautiful flowering plant seems the true Euphorbia caput-medusae.

If you want to play safe just send me the plant and I will take a closer look. :-)

Rodica,
though there are some Monadeniums looking medusoid BuckÂs plant certainly isn't of that genus. If you know about the meaning of the genus name things become obvious.
Mon = one / aden(ium) = gland refers to the always one gland of the cyathia in plants of genus Monadenium which is composed of 5 fused together glands and building a horseshoe-like structure.

In Euphorbia, on the other hand, the glands are always single. In E. caput-meduae the 5 at their base green glands bear 3 to 6 (creamy) white finger-like processes with entire or serrate margins.
