This Brug was officially given its name through BGI by Liz!
Thanks Kylie for highlighting it here! I love this one!
The International Cultivar Registration Authority (ICRA) is legally required to recognize and publish these names in a timely manner. BGI also publishes these names to various libraries around the world to fulfill the naming process. We have checked this with the International Society for Horticultural Science. Here is a link to them so you can read all the information. http://www.ishs.org/sci/icraname.htm

    Congrats, Kylie!

BTW...I couldn't have helped create her without the support of the Brugmansia community and my customers worldwide. Everything goes to support the hybdridizing work. I had many members of the community step up when my garden took a beating during the 2010 - January freeze, and I'm very grateful.
Its all of you Brugmansia lovers that help keep the garden going, and make my work worthwhile.

    Thank you so much.

Darn, the rich girls get all the goodies. Beautiful blossom Kylie. Grow it real big so I can get a cutting this fall. :-) I hope it gets 12 feet tall and has hundreds of blossoms for you. Very nice.

    Hi Imcanadian (Joelle?),
Congrats to Liz - it is really a nice cvs.
Why to you start spreading misleading information and bad mouthing?????
The cvs of Liz was not registered yet as she denied sending all required data to the ICRA - as BGI is not the official registrar (and by the way Liz knows that! - as it was communicated to her) and is not allowed to establish cvs. The process can be finished if all data including the 4 pictures are sent.

    Registrations are pretty simple:
    http://www.ibrugs.com/CultivarRegistration/CultivarRegistrationInformation.aspx
or with a mail including all data to: registrar@ibrugs.com

It normally takes a few days and if the cvs is accepted it is officially introduced and published on the website and the breeder notified. Later on it is ordinarilly published in a valid serial.
    best wishes,

No lies, Its all in black and white. People can read for themselves,Helmut. BGI members can do as they always have, there are many many, famous hybridizers from Europe (Anne Kirshner-Abel, Dorthea Langenburg to name a few)that have never confirmed their brug names through BGI, or Abads/ibrugs and their Brug names are recognized around the world and have been for decades. Are you going to email them and tell them they MUST fill out your form to confirm their names? I doubt that very much. Please answer this question that I ask of you.

So in the future, I would appreciate you not calling me a liar. And to stop telling people that your way is the only way. That is simply not true, and the facts are on the link I provided. Good day to you,Sir?

Unfortunately this thread was taken off topic by a post by imcanadian. I suggest if members want to discuss the merits of officially registering a new cultivar versus just establishing the cultivar name as was done in the case of Mouline Rouge, then let's move this conversation to a separate thread.

This topic was started so Kylie could share her excitement about Liz posting one of her new cultivars on eBay.

even if you hide behind a username and have not the guts to tell the people here that most of AKA's brugs have been published in book (selfpublished), which was published in german language and that Langenbergs is publishing a printed saleslist (annualy) - it was possible to establish them in the past.
I don't know at the moment if both will register their cultivars in the future (they have been invited) - but there is new reference book in preparation. With this it is possible to accept all the older cvs that have a proper describtion.
We do not need the BGI forum as referee as the last list was hold by ABADS and the last registrar did a great job.
But it should also be said that if you have studied the list from the former registrar that there are different states for a cultivar possible. If you want to know more about a proper cultivar regstration then just use the email-address above. The actual is list is beeing overworked at the moment as there are a lot of error in it.
    Have a nice day! L.

    I will ignore your slander.

For those who are interested in the truth, here is a link supplied to me from the ISHS it is in laymans terms, easy to understand.
    http://www.ishs.org/sci/icraname.htm

And a quote from this article:

"HOW CAN I PROTECT MY NEW NAME?
Send a copy of your publication to the ICRA and to the main horticultural libraries in your part of the world. If you are feeling generous, send copies to similar libraries in other parts of the world too."

Which BGI does for all who list there chosen name with BGI.
I have also been told that if the chosen ICRA does not accept the list of Published names from BGI's Herald then they are in violation of their assigned duties and will have to answer to the ICRA.
This is fact, written in stone by the ISHS(www.ishs.org)
No matter what an individual may say. No one man is above the rules of the ICRA.
