When you take the pups off, sprinkle a small amount of fertiliser around the potting mix and put it in a shady area. You will probably get a few more pups. Mum is dying, but these amazing plants keep producing.

Do you know what type it is? If its already sun hardy u can pretty much put it back in sun ( more for neoregelia). Vrieseas and Guzmania need shade for most varieties. Use a slow release fertiliser if it has no roots yet, a manure based fert will burn new roots. However if its a Vriesea they love dynamic lifter once a root base is established. Can u post a pic at all?

Also u can give mum a liquid nitrogen fertiliser after removing the pups so she might put out more pups for u. Only make it 1/4 strength as u would for ferns. Hope this helps
