Glad it worked! Vr. splendens seems to be one of the slower broms to produce a bloom. Even other Vrieseas are faster.

Special instructions for what? Do you plan to do something with it other than just sit back and enjoy it?

Well Lisa, I didn't know if there were any changes to be made to its growing conditions.

Some plants [not talking broms here as I have very little experience in that dept] for instance produce more vividly colored blooms if light is increased during this time. Some plants you should increase fertilizer, some you should be careful not to fertilize at all. Some need more water, some you should keep watering to a minimum. Some need warmer temps while other need cooler.

So just wondering if I should be doing anything special.

Hi Paul, my 2cents worth,... I've had a nice group of Vrieseas over the years,and find that having a blooming plant in bright light,even flourescent light,helps to color up the bloom better than when left in shade. Mine do well in morning or evening sunlight too,but I avoid direct afternoon sunshine. Seems the color lasts longer in bright lighting,but fades to green fairly soon if left in a shaded area. Anyway,thats my experiance.

I don't treat mine any differently when they're blooming, but Bob's growing conditions are probably closer to yours than mine are, so I'd go with his suggestion.
