Could any one tell me how to germinate Tillandsia seeds? and for the more 'terrestrial looked' tillandsia such as T. prodigiosa; T. ponderosae, do you germinate them in the same way as the other silver leaf tillandsia?
A piece of window screen works great for this. Spread the seeds out evenly on the screen and keep them misted and in high light. Time consuming? Yes. 100% germination? No. You should see greens specks in a month. After 2-3 years you will be able to transfer them onto their mounts. They will only be about the size of this >>> '0'. After about 5 years they really start to grow. Patience.
I've still got 6 year old seedlings that are on their original cork where they germinated. Sheesh! Nobel Peace prize for Patience to all Tillandsia hybridizers out there.
