It's Raining Again!

I think the weather system that was over Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas for so long must have moved over south Louisiana, south Mississippi, south Alabama, and north Florida. We had been having a dryer than normal spring - not as dry near the coast as in north MS and AL - and we needed more rain, but not this much. The weatherman is predicting a better than 50% chance of rain every day next week, and that translates into rain every day, several times a day here. I love rain, but I don't want the floods that you had west of here.

How's your weather?

I don't wish too much rain on anybody, not like what we got, but I hope it goes a long way towards getting you closer to normal.

It hasn't rained here since Friday morning! Some areas I will mow tomorrow for the first time in 4 weeks. There is still standing water in other places and it might be a week before that dries out.

Send me the rain!! I think we've had 3 days of rain since beginning of spring! And that was spotty.

Our rainfall so far this year has exceeded our annual average. We've had 38" or so this year and it's not over yet. There's such a thing as too much is too much, ya know? A few of the plants are suffering, but most are showing exceptional growth.

The only issue is lots of mosquitoes, aphids, and spiders. I'm worried that my new GF eggs might get eaten by the spiders.

Yeah, it's the same here, I've even noticed that the mexican sunflowers have mold on the flower center. I don't know how a butterfly can survive so long without food.

It seems sort of dry here. I have no idea if we are over or under the average amount of rain. I do know it is supposed to be hot and humid this week with a chance of thunder showers practically every day.

I can't believe what happened this afternoon, considering it's July! I had to turn off the front porch ceiling fans, because I was cold and figured my cats might be too! This rain has kept the actual temperatures in the low 70's which shouldn't be cold, but that fan made it feel cold. I changed from my shorts to jeans - incredible for this area!
I haven't gotten any huge totals, just an inch one day, a half an inch the next, 9/10" the next day, on and on - the rivers and creeks haven't flooded - yet. The butterflies don't come out in this weather - the sun came out briefly this afternoon, and hordes of them showed up to nectar, like, finally!

See, an inch in one day seems like very little to you, MissSherry, when an inch in a day is a very large amount to us Okies!

We went to Destin, Fl. last Saturday for the week, and I think the rain follow us from Texas all the way over there and back. It poured most of the time we were driving along I-10. It's finally stopped here for the time being, but we're forcast for more later this week. I'm not complaining though, I'd much rather have too much than too little. It saves on the water bill.
