I put mine out a couple of days ago......I am in zone 6. I have them up against the house and in a sheltered location. If it looks like it will get really cold then I will cover them or bring them in for a bit.

I'm starting to put some of mine out - none of the big heavy ones though. With the temperature being so nice and warm, I thought I'd take advantage of it, but it's important to remember that the temperature can also drop well below freezing still. If you're putting any plants out, you have to pay close attention to the forecast, and you'll need to accept that likelihood that they'll have to be brought back in most nights.

Whatever you put out, make sure you water it well, and place it in a shady, sheltered location for the first couple of days. Introduce the sun lovers to sun slooowly, taking a week or more to accustom the plant to the sun.

OOPS! what I should have said was that I put my overwintered geraniums outside.......nothing else yet.

If you're in zone 5, it's too early to leave them outside. They will suffer from frost damage. I wouldn't leave it out until June - earlier if you can cover it up when there's frost.
