Help!!! Plant Pest

Hi,

I have this on both a brug and a datura leaves that are clear across the yard from each other. Can you tell what it is? When I look at it, it looks shiny like vermiculite. The brug it is on is close to two others and they don't have it on their leaves. We have been very rainy but I am guessing it is a bug? It does not look like this on the under side of the leaves. I stripped all the leaves off that have this on it today. I hope you can tell me what it is???

Thanks!

Joyce

Hi! Joyce, I can't tell from the picture, but it could
be a fungus from all the rain! It just doesn't look
like bugs to me! If its bugs you should be able to see
them and they would be eating the leaf! I'm not sure
just a thought, it has rained here 9 days and some
fungus is breaking out on the grass so, what do you
    think!

Joyce I have that on older leaves...which eventually fall off. If I do not take them off before then lol.

I am the LEAF PICKER roflmao

Susan might be right with the rain.

Have you seen any itty bitty black shiny beetles? That looks like the damage that they cause. I always get them on eggplants but sometimes on my daturas as well. I've never seen them on my brugs.

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I had better get my pest book out and start studying.
**Karyn....I wouldn't see anything if it is itty bitty!!! LOL!!! I did buy a magnifying glass so I will get it out and see if I see anything.

Lucy thank goodness my neighbors already know I'm nuts. lol They see me prowling around the yard in the middle of the night in my bathrobe (sometimes less) with a flashlight and camera.

Lol, me too. Our favorite thing is to run out the door with the flashlight and camera at night when we hear the frogs and toads and go find them and take pics. I have a new froglett in the aquarium. She is fully developed already in a week and is so tiny. She is a paler tan color. Haven't been able to get a pic of her yet. She goes in the cave when I lift the lid to get a pic. Polly is bigger than the firebelly toads. Its so much fun to watch the tadpoles develop then I'll let them go back in the pond. Except for Polly. I think she is a bullfrog and I don't want her to eat my fish.

I still have the pair of tree frogs. I guess it's mating season because they are making soooo much noise. I don't understand how a 2" frog can make enough noise to wake you out of a sound sleep! I've had one of them for a year. I can't let them go because they'd die when it got cold so I'm stuck with them. At least they get along. I wasn't sure they would because they aren't the same kind of frogs.

Lol, my male fire belly toad barks like a dog when he is in the mood. I think I found the culprit. I have leaves just like yours and didn't see any bugs. This morning I saw the tiny shiny black beetle on a healthy leaf on the same plant that has the spots so they must be doing it. Dang bugs. I can't spray now because I have birds nesting in the greenhouse and a chameleon was in there today. I guess I'll just keep on leaf picking and hosing the crap out of them, lol.

You guys are crackin' me up!!! I can just picture you in my mind out in your yards in various states of dress with flashlights and cameras!! LOL!!! My neighbor knows I am nuts. He is always teasing me about being out in the rain with my plants. I tell him that is the best time to transplant. He just can't understand why I don't transplant when the sun is blazing! I have so many container plants on the patio I am out after dark many times working on plants. I used to have one of those flashlight things you strap around your forehead like miners wear. Got a lot of use out of it.
**Karyn, I love tree frogs and all the noise they make! That is how I figured out a tree frog over wintered in the garage. I kept wondering how come I could hear it so well in the kitchen and one day I saw it on my plant in the garage. You can send your tree frogs down here. Mine hang out on the windows and catch bugs. I really enjoy them!
I guess I will have to get out my natural remedies for plant pests. I won't use any chemicals even though my dogs only go outside to potty.
Thanks for the info and especially the laughs!

I have the same thing on some of my daturas. I stripped the whole plant of leaves this past week. New leaves are growing. The first bud was nearing opening when it started to shrivel and fell off. Lots of rain here too.
