WOW what a beautiful garden you have there!!!!! Yes it does look like the middle one. Although alot smaller due to the confinements of a water barrel.

wvgal, I am almost 100% they are Australia,because of the foilage, my second guess would be Russian Red.I dug up the rhizomes down at my families farm in south central Georgia this past June, I planted them here the second week of June and this picture was taken in early September! Yes,make sure the seed pods are completely dried out before attemtping to harvest,don't open them up when they are still "green" They (seeds) should be completely round and very dark. I usually start them indoors in late February, you need to file or scrape them lightly until you see "white" then soak them in warm water until you see a protrusion,then they are ready to plant. I do not think the canna in your photo is one of the tall growing cultivars. I am reasonably sure it is ÂRed Futurity aka ÂFuturity RedÂ. As you may know, the seeds will not grow true. They usually do produce a high percentage of red leafed seedlings if you allowed the seed pods to dry before harvesting the ripe seeds. Try the link http://www.qualitycannas.net/ (copy & past).
