Cannas generally don't have to be staked, their stalks are quite sturdy and often very bendable. Another really big one is Canna 'Stuttgart', it has white and green striped leaves and a peach colored blossom. Here is a link to another thread with pictures of 'Stuttgart'.

One does not usually need a stake for canna. As mentioned above, their stem is quite strong. However, we are located in a wind tunnel, and one day a particularly strong wind came up and bent them over. That's only one in 5 years though, so I wouldn't worry about it under normal circumstances.

Bob_n_Bernie_WA , that is a WONDERFUL looking canna. I've not tried to put them into my pond, but if I have a lot survive the winter ( and so far it looks good)then next year I will try some. I usually have papyrus in the pond, and that is impressive as well.

So the moral of the story is ... you probably don't need a stake. A steak...yes, a stake .... probably not. :)
