Joe-my experience with cannas is that they should come up in a few weeks and by next year be prepared to thin out and share with friends for the rest of your life! Cannas love it here in Zone 8 and thrive and spread. I don't feed mine (except an occasional all garden Miracle Gro spray) or dig them up at the end of the season. Just lots of water. Right now in my small military yard I probably have 200 coming up--who needs a privacy fence-lol! Enjoy them-they are beautiful plants and survive past the growing season.
