Only one way to find out... I would gently move some of the soil above the rhizomes and look for shoots. If you are unable to locate any shoots, dig up one or two rhizomes and check for rot. I have some that are not above ground yet but have started putting out shoots. All this rain is not helping!

thanks rokal, Iwill wait for a few sunny days,and if nothing happens I will have to start poking around. you were propably affected by the same rainy weather. I have never seen that much rain ever.

I learned that if the rhizome you got does not have an eye, it will not live. Do you recall seeing an eye?
