corm viability
I'm a newbie and just dug up several of last years plants that overwintered in pots and had shown no signs of life. Found black mushy stuff, black firm stuff, squishy yellow etc. What is concidered viable to replant? if the buds have started to grow but are now black but firm will they continue? Should the corms be trimed to stuff like a raw potato (yukon gold) with absolutly no dark, and should the cuts dry out a while before planting? Will they spent time time growing roots before they spend energy on green growth?
Also bought some WM bagged corms where the rotted end had very tiny bugs. Put it in a pot of water and then ran water over itto flush them out. And then, some spindley new growth was bruised off (dark rotty seperation but the rest not rotty) will that regrow?
Thanks M
Oh, dealing with the so called 3 or 6 plants per bag, more like 2-3" parts of plants, I think it's better to buy an already potted plant and you would get the equal amount of corm for just a little more, plus the dirt and pot.
