What were the temps like when you planted and what have they been since they sprouted?
I did my tomatoes last week (inside) and they are up and growing.
I have enough seeds that maybe I will try to do some outside just to see what happens.

It is strange that I should be keeping such great records this year!! When I put them out on April 2, it was sunny, minus 2 degrees, with a high of zero that day. We still had at least two feet of snow in the yard and cold temps. for a while, but for about the last ten days we have had unseasonably high temperatures: in the teens and twenties most days. It has been a little cooler the last two days. The forecast for the next two weeks is under the norm and we even expect some snow and a mornig temp. of minus 2 on Tuesday, so I wonder what will happen. I had two more sprouts today. My indoor plants are doing fine under the lights in case this fails.

UPDATE: Over the weekend, all of my tomatoes in the cooler sprouted (they were two in each cup) and the WS Black Russian also sprouted. So something's working for me.

So is the black Russian, one that is WS the regular way?
I really hope that this goes well! I would love to not plant my tomatoes inside next year. Between all my houseplants and overwintering my brugs and other plants, I have so little room.

Yes, GG. The Black Russian was one of those planted the regular WS way on March 27, according to Vera's schedule. My problem is that I have some evidence of whitefly in my house and it's difficult to get rid of. They demolished my tom. seedlings last year. In addition, my light set up is in the basement on the lowest shelf and I get a little tired of having to stoop or bend to tend to the little seedlings. Most of all, I hate hardening off - I have lost several plants by forgetting them outdoors on their first outing, or leaving them too long. This is better for me all round, even if they are a little later.
