Canadian Winter Sowing

I ws'd a mix of semps. They germinated well but are still very tiny. Most around 1/2inch in diameter or less. I transplanted them in clumps into a flat. I'm wondering about the best way of wintering them. I thought of leaving them in their box and sinking the box in the garden. What do you think?

Although most sempervivum are frost hardy alpines, I would sink the flat for winter this far north, especially because they are such young plants.

I would transplant them in the ground. I didn't get a chance to transplant my WS Semp seedlings till late Sept last year because the rock garden bed wasn't finished, they were about the same size as yours and they all made it thru the winter. Mind you, we did have a very mild winter ;)
