    That's a scary thought that ya'll don't get much or any rain out in Texas. We normally get enough rain in Georgia to not have to water all summer. Well, the drought has changed that but we are still getting some rain. I won't complain next time I'm dragging my hoses around, as dragging the hoses around is a way of life for you- you don't have much relief or choice!

    And your heat- well, now we know when we will start seeing your brugmansia blossom photos! Right 'bout time for my first frost! LOL!!

  • 18 years ago

    LOL Brenda you got that right!!! When I lived in GA. during the summer it would popcorn shower most everyday.. enough to never have to water..Here we don't really drag hoses around we just buy one for every hose bib and you make sure you have more of those than you thought you might EVER need...LOL The worst part is having to buy hay.. Not much to be had and the price is going up.. We have a guy coming in come Fall to grub and sprig about 50 acres of Coastal.. soo maybe next yr or the next we won't have to worry about buying hay... Just glad someone is getting some rain!!! I have this alarm clock that makes rain noise..LOL A girl can still dream...

    I don't know why but this year has been especially bad here. I can see the rain sometimes the next town over and just about the time it hits the hills on the edge of town it either splits off and goes right around us or just dissipates and pops up farther east. Its really crappy when you see it on the radar passing you by so close but when you actually see the rain falling from the clouds and it never reaches you it gets depressing, lol. We had a couple of sprinkles from the hurricane but not enough to even wash the dust off the cars. Literally just a few drops came down a couple of times. Last year it rained all spring and summer and I didn't have to start watering til I think late August but that was unusual weather too. I normally still have to water every other day but not every day. The trees are sucking the water out of the flower beds I think, lol. Shoot this year I am happy to just have a cloudy day so its not so blistering hot, lol. I talked to the guy down the street about putting in drip systems for the beds and he says our water is so hard they clog up all the time and sprinklers are better so I guess I can add that to my someday wishlist, lol.

    This is CRAZY!!
    It is Thurnderin outside right now.. NO RAIN.. Non in sight!!! Maybe Noma or Rigo are gettin it...Got my fingers crossed for ya'll!! The clouds are nice to have tho..I'll take anything I can get right now...LOL

    It's pouring on my flowers most of the time when I water. Except it is just my sweat lol. Wish it would rain for us that have not seen rain in ......hmmm month?

  • 18 years ago

    you poor folks! Up here in the Northeast it is the best growing conditions that I can ever remeber, every few days we get thunder showers, and some times a whole day of rain. Not too wet not dry at all. First time I can remember the lawns not burning out at this time of year.

    Now you know my secret!

  • 18 years ago

    Kylie we did get a little rain yesterday evening, not much but it was rain.Sat out on the front porch with the family and enjoyed the rain and watched the kids play basketball in the rain, it was a nice quiet evening.

    Barry - If rain is your secret, then I think Im screwed.LOL I cant water enough to keep everything looking as nice and green as yours.Mine looks green and wrinkled!LOL

    Rigo first part made me giggle. Then I am crossing my fingers for us all to get some rain. Maybe today. Weatherman says its the last chance for a while. Looks cloudy enough to get some sprinkles. Geeeeee it would be nice not to haul the hose around all day again.
    Still, joy to all of you with what you have. I always say it could be worse. So I do not mind if I am in control on how much water I can or need to give them. Wasn't it mike who's Brugs got all washed away? I hope he is doing ok.

  • 18 years ago

    givelittle getlots-Glad to hear the first part of this post made you giggle.Yea, I am keeping my fingers crossed for more rain too.Maybe the ones that havent got any rain will get it today(Kylie'F4F)

    I got a few drops on the windshield at the store but none at the house. I saw all kinds of people outside on the way home looking up at the sky and had their children all outside too. Gonna show em what a rain drop looks like I guess. Well all they saw was scarry skies and lighting and wind then it was gone, lol.

  • 18 years ago

    We had the coolest looking yellow skies tonight. No rain though at my house but I hear it poured on the other side of town. At least is cooled things off a bit, I got my utility bill today and it was double of last month!!! And I have my thermostat set on 78!! Yikes!!!

    Rigo, lmao @ the bomb alarm clock! Glad you are getting some rain, I'm sure your plants are lovin it!

  • 18 years ago

    Less than .10 for the month and you all know the PNWers love their rain, so send it back please!!

  • 18 years ago

    Not a drop here Rigo. Kristy mentioned she had a few while driving home. Mind you we are both in the same city lol. But Ft. Hood the next city over had even a Tornado touch down. Crazy crazy weather. But if I have the choice between tornado and rain or hauling the watering cans and hose around, I take that anytime.

  • 18 years ago

    Darn! I was hoping others would get some rain:0( Well it was great to see it and this moring leaving the house I noticed all the plants seem to be a bit more perkie, guess that big drink of water did them all well.

    Daniella- I am not kidding you, I hit the snooze button and BAM! the biggest thunder, sounded like a bomb went off!Sure did get me out of bed fast.LOL

  • 18 years ago

    LOL I woke up to Thunder!!! Then came the Rain.. Only got an inch but it lasted for a couple of hours...Amazing how much of a difference that will make in the pastures much less the gardens.. We are having to feed grain and put out hay to keep the cows fed..

  • 18 years ago

    Kylie, can't you use the cows to "mow" your grass?

  • 18 years ago

    Barry they only eat the good stuff... :(

    Here is what the storms looked like as they started to move thru North Ft.Worth on wednesday.
    {{gwi:514660}}

    Here comes the rain storms!
    {{gwi:514663}}

    And a shot from right over my house.
    {{gwi:514666}}

    And this little garden vistor came out right when the rain started to come down.
    {{gwi:514668}}

    Or should I say he is trying to find shelter from the rain in the umbrella grass and banana trees.
    {{gwi:514670}}

    And his shelter from the rain.

    Well I did see some rain but it was in Louisiana, lol. I am going to fill the ice chest up with it and take it back to give my poor plants some, lol. Glad some of you got it. We didn't get any at the house but they had a nasty looking storm the next town over that i got the sprinkles at the store from. It just goes right around us.

  • 18 years ago

    Rigo, hope you got enough rain to soak deep in the ground. I wish we would get some.

  • 18 years ago

    F4F- I know what you mean, when the kids are done swimming in the pool I use that water to do all my watering in the backyard,wish you could have got some rain and not just sprinkles!

    Yea, I hate it when the storms are right next door to you and you can smell and see the rain but it just skips you.
    :0(

    eloise- In all we had about an inch of rain and the next morning all the plants looked really happy.
