Greenhouse Misting system ???

I go in and out of the gardening bug. I saw a commercial misting system in use the other day. Wow, amazing.

What type of misting system or misters do you use ???

    No system to it. LOL
My water hose sprayer as a mister setting.
I use that in the GH.
What type system do you use?

Lol, I have been using Dorothy's method. I have one that I got from Lowes or the PX last year that I haven't gotten hooked up yet because I keep forgetting to pick up a timer for it. I don't want it running all the time. Every time I got to the px they have one over the shopping area with the shade cloth on top and all the potted plants below and it feels soooo good in there. Of course they don't sell the kind they use though, lol. Gotta go find it and try it out on the patio I think. Maybe I could stand to stay out there long enough to do some repotting with that up.

I found items like this on ebay. My whole problem is do they work? Any how hard it it to clear a clog ? I use well water and I will have to use a strainer on anything I use. The commercial ones they used at Turners were.

cool-off.com three fans cooled 8000+ sq feet. $ 1700.00 is beyond my budget. So I will have to use a cheap alternative.Flash evaporation I believe is a key as it does not wet the surface.

Ok, I found mine. Its called ocean breeze evaporative mist cooling system. My fingers are raw from putting the little T's onto the tubing and the misting heads on the other end. I only did 7, lol. I'll have to wait for John to wake up to help me figure out how far apart to space them and cut into the line and shove the 7 little mister apparatus onto the line in the cuts. I have everything else ready to hook up. I'll let you know how it works. It was really cheap but this tubing is a pain to push the little thingys into. It came with a screen that goes on the hose fitting.

Get that one! Its very similar to mine but I'm about to throw it in the garbage. Its worth the extra $20 or $30 that one cost to not have to assemble it. I might order one as well, lol. Don't know if I will ever get this put together. I have to cut the line each place a nozzle goes and force the tubing onto a T so that 14 more things I have to shove in and then the cap on the end of the line. If John doesn't do it I'm throwing it away. I litteraly have blisters from just putting the emitters together.

Check this website first and make sure that model is pre assembled. They do have ones that are for a reasonable price. I want the one that goes on the fan. That looks easy enough, lol.

After being in the humid Florida, I say YES misting really would help! I started to mist my plants now. Truly believing that I figured out the secret why plants grow so huge and beautiful in Florida :-))))

But I still do not have a GH lol

With the type of system that's pictured you have to make sure that it's equipped with low flow/high pressure valves/nozzles or it will act more like a drip irrigation system instead of a mister. We have a fairly elaborate system in the farm greenhouse but in the backyard GH I'd been using a GH humidifier which was fine but now that I'm using it as a cooling house I'm using a fogger. It's essentially a fan that sprays water but under very high pressure so it's a fine mist. The GH is small, only 10x12 so I just need 1.

Yep, she is right. We finally finished it and I used a T on the water faucet so I could run the sprinkler at the same time. With it on it dripped really bad with it off therefore more pressure it worked much better but I need to get some more of those c clamp things with nail to hold the emitters better. They are spraying every which way and wetting the wood on the porch. They didn't come with enough in the kit. I was worn out by the time we finished but it felt pretty good. I'll let you know tomorrow how it feels in the hot part of the day. It would have worked great in the greenhouse but I won't get another one that I have to put the stupid emitters in myself. My fingers really hurt. I would love one of the fans that has the mist thing on it.

Finished planting my Oleanders, and ate dinner. Only a narrow time frame for hard work with heat factors at 110. I did find a cool assembled mister at Lowes for $24.00 it even had a built in strainer.

It works ok but 7 heads it is too much for a greenhouse. I took your advise Kristi plus it was too cheap to pass up. It works great.

I can get back into my greenhouse!!!! 1 mister and a box fan.

Trial plants in there. I do have a high sodium content from the well I have to see how it affects the plants. Problem almost solved. Misters are cool.......

    I have a serious question.

Do you mist when the sun beams down on the plants too?

Jim you need to share some pics :-)

Frigging camera went dead. My water was too harsh for misting. Now I have 2 more problems a timer and if I want to put my extra reverse Osmosis system in the greenhouse.

I am really starting to like oleanders. This drought and the heat and spending 2-3 hours hand watering plus an automatic irrigation system for things to just try to die is getting very old. I need to go spray my brugs with their $ 375.00 for 8 oz's Forbid.

Oh sorry Lucy, lol just rambling here. I do not know enough about misters to answer correctly. I have to use mine during the day if I want to go into my greenhouse. 100 degree temps and heat factors 110-115 cook even Castor beans quickly.

I guess I will wait until November to use mine again and mist only when I need to go into it a pot something up.
